WINDSOR COMICON ANNOUNCED FOR SEPTEMBER 29-30, 2018
WINDSOR COMICON RETURNS TO CAESARS WINDSOR.
Windsor, ON. Windsor ComiCon is pleased to announce its return to The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor (September 29-30, 2018). As an all-ages pop culture event, the show has thrilled fans during its past three programs in 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively while featuring guests that ranged from Kevin Smith and Sean Astin through to Lou Ferrigno and Billy Dee Williams. This, the 4th installment will witness a change in leadership advancing Colin Douglas (the show’s current owner and previous General Manager) to the role of President and local Windsorite Jeremy Renaud to that of General Manager.
For Douglas, a long time collector of comic books and action figures who is known in the fan community as the promoter behind TFcon (tfcon.ca); the world’s largest fan-run Transformers convention held annually in both Canada and the US as well as the Ontario Collectors Con (ontariocollectorscon.com), ‘80s Toy Expo and Action Figure Expo that he produces every year (in Mississauga, Ontario), believes the timing and change in leadership is right.
“Based on Jeremy’s experience on the show since its inception, relationships with local businesses, democratic leadership style and passion for the industry, he was the ideal choice,” says Douglas. “We will continue to work very closely together on ComiCon.”
Renaud is currently a Professor in Sport Management at St. Clair College and is on the management teams for the Sport Card & Memorabilia Expo (sportcardexpo.com) and TFcon (tfcon.ca). In his spare time, Renaud helps out in the community on the Become the Miracle: Riverside Minor Baseball Association fundraising team to enable a miracle diamond in the East End of Windsor so that individuals of all abilities have the opportunity to play baseball. He is also an avid collector of comics who is writing a book (with local artist Tony Gray) based on his son’s real life experiences set to the stories portrayed through the 1st volume of The Amazing Spider-Man (Marvel).
“I’m extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity along with the combined support of both Colin and my family,” says Renaud. “Connecting people to their passions through the show while showcasing our local talent motivates me to work harder.”
Planning for 2018 has already commenced. Renaud and Douglas are currently planning out potential 2018 guests.
