RIVERSIDE MINOR BASEBALL CLUB NAMED OFFICIAL BENEFICIARY OF WINDSOR COMICON 2019
Proceeds to Support Farrow Riverside Miracle Park Project.
Windsor, ON. Windsor ComiCon presented by Cartoon Kingdom is pleased to announce that Riverside Minor Baseball Club (RMBC) has been named as its official beneficiary for Windsor ComiCon 2019. Proceeds generated through Windsor ComiCon, which will take place at Caesars Windsor (September 21-22, 2019) will head towards RMBC’s Farrow Riverside Miracle Park Project on the East End.
“We, at RMBC are extremely grateful to be considered as the official beneficiary for Windsor ComiCon 2019,” says Bill Kell, co-chairperson, Farrow Miracle Park. “Funds raised through Windsor ComiCon will help us complete this project in the Fall.”
Through Windsor ComiCon, RMBC will receive a myriad of benefits including an on-site activation space at the front of the entrance to The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor to promote its project, programs and services. Windsor ComiCon will secure donations on behalf of the charity by way of asking attendees to make a monetary donation of any size at registration, which will be given to RMBA in full at the show. Windsor ComiCon will also secure product donations ranging from comics, toys and memorabilia (pre-show), which will be auctioned off during the show itself in support of the charity. In addition to this, through many comic creators (some of which are yet to be announced as guests for 2019), Windsor ComiCon has negotiated agreements with artists to participate in a Sketch Battle for Charity; a public event where artists are pitted against one another within a given timeframe to draw a superhero, which is provided to them by the organizer. Sketches will be auctioned off at the end of the Battle with proceeds to the charity. Sketch battle opponents will be determined with a schedule made public later this Fall. Other opportunities to raise funds at the show include 50/50 raffles and third-party events. Finally, RMBC will be provided with some additional marketing opportunities through Windsor ComiCon to leverage its brand while receiving some exclusive passes to show’s private functions while members and their families will receive discounts.
Windsor ComiCon GM, Jeremy Renaud is “thrilled to welcome RMBC on board as this year’s beneficiary on behalf of the show.” Renaud, a former national Special Olympics GM and former local sports administrator “understands the value of public and private partnerships, which enable opportunities for all individuals to participate in sport regardless of their ability. The people behind Farrow Riverside Miracle Park inclusive of their volunteers and the community are making this dream a reality. We are pleased to support this project.”
The Farrow Riverside Miracle Park will include an accessible sports field (inclusive of a baseball diamond and pool), a wellness track with accessible workout stations, an inclusive playground, enhanced bathing and change facilities, a prominent cenotaph and public gathering space. Kell anticipates that “baseball diamond will be completed this Fall with overall construction expected to be finished by the end of the year.” For more information about Farrow Riverside Miracle Park and to make donations, please visit: http://riversidemiraclepark.com/
